Holy Communion
Remembering Grace Matilda Hadman
7th April 2010

As you danced in the light with joy,
love lifted you. As you brushed against
this world so gently, you lifted us.

T.C. Ring

Lord of all hopefulness, Lord of all joy,
Whose trust, ever child-like, no cares could destroy,
Be there at our waking, and give us, we pray,
Your bliss in our hearts, Lord, at the break of the day.

Lord of all eagerness, Lord of all faith,
Whose strong hands were skilled at the plane and the lathe,
Be there at our labours, and give us, we pray,
Your strength in our hearts, Lord, at the noon of the day.

Lord of all kindliness, Lord of all grace,
Your hands swift to welcome, your arms to embrace,
Be there at our homing, and give us, we pray,
Your love in our hearts, Lord, at the eve of the day.

Lord of all gentleness, Lord of all calm,
Whose voice is contentment, whose presence is balm,
Be there at our sleeping, and give us, we pray,
Your peace in our hearts, Lord, at the end of the day.

 Lord of all life and power,

who through the mighty resurrection of thy Son

hast overcome the old order of sin and death

to make all things new in him:

grant that we, being dead to sin

and alive to thee in Jesus Christ,

may reign with him in glory;

to whom with thee and the Holy Spirit

be praise and honour, glory and might, now and in all eternity.

Tennyson in Memoriam CXXX                                                Carol

      My love involves the love before;
      My love is vaster passion now;
      Tho’ mix’d with God and Nature thou,
      I seem to love thee more and more.

      Far off thou art, but ever nigh;
      I have thee still, and I rejoice;

       I prosper, circled with thy voice;
       I shall not lose thee tho’ I die.

Something Beautiful Remains                                               William

The tide recedes behind bright seashells on the sand.

The sun goes down but gentle warmth

shall linger on the land.

The music stops but echoes on in silent sweet refrains.

For everything that passes,

something beautiful remains

Love and Go On                                                                    Jasper

You can shed tears that she is gone,

Or you can smile because she has lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back,

Or you can open your eyes and see all she’s left

Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her

Or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,

Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember her only that she is gone,

Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind,

be empty and turn your back.

Or you can do what she’d want:

smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

She is not Gone                                                                      Robert

She is not gone,
who leaves us this great heritage of remembering joy.

She still lives in our hearts,
in the happiness we knew, in the dreams we shared.

She still breathes,
in the lingering fragrance, windblown, from her favourite flowers.

She still smiles in the moonlight's silver,
and laughs in the sunlight's sparkling gold.

She still speaks in the echoes of words we've heard her say again and again.

She still moves in the rhythm of waving grasses,
in the dance of the tossing branches.

She is not gone;
her memory is warm in our hearts, comfort in our sorrow.

She is not apart from us, but part of us,

For love is eternal, and those we love shall be with us throughout all eternity                                  Anon.

William Wordsworth (only his is about his son…a Boy)               Bill

I loved the Girl with the utmost love of which my soul is capable, and she is taken from me – yet in the agony of my spirit in surrendering such a treasure I feel immeasurably richer than if I had never possessed it.

Mary stood weeping outside Jesus’ tomb. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb; and she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had been lying, one at the head and the other at the feet. They said to her, ‘Woman, why are you weeping?’ She said to them, ‘They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.’4When she had said this, she turned round and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know that it was Jesus.5Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, why are you weeping? For whom are you looking?’ Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, ‘Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.’ Jesus said to her, ‘Mary!’ She turned and said to him in Hebrew,* ‘Rabbouni!’ (which means Teacher). Jesus said to her, ‘Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, “I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.” ’ Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, ‘I have seen the Lord’; and she told them that he had said these things to her.

With love from Grace’s friends

Read by Lara Pelling

‘life is not measured by the number of breaths we take,
but by the moments that take our breath away’

 You would take our breath away with your beautiful face,
You would take our breath away with your dimples and your smile,

You would take our breath away with your
Passion for life and want of no regret,

You would take our breath away with your unwavering loyalty,
You would take our breath away with your eternal faith.

It was you that took our breath away Grace.

HARP MUSIC Valse Triste

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

T'was Grace that taught my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear
The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come;
'Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far
and Grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me.
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

When we've been here ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun.
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we've first begun.

God the Father by whose glory Christ was raised from the dead, strengthen you to walk with him in his risen life; and the blessing of God almighty, the Father , the Son and the Holy Spirit, be with each one of you this day and into eternity. Amen.

And did you get what
You wanted from this life, even so?
I did.

And what did you want?
To call myself beloved, to feel myself
Beloved on the earth.

Raymond Carver
